This month sees one of Sheffield’s biggest art events ready to launch. Bangers and Cash is back and bigger than ever!
22 local artists are on board to design and paint the bonnet of their bangers before the teams set off from the Grand Depart on the 14th of September.
The brainchild of local artist Matt Cockayne, the huge race starts in Sheffield and ends in Munich via France and Switzerland. Once the race is over the bonnets will all be auctioned off with the proceeds going directly to the fantastic youth housing charity Roundabout.
We are so proud to be an official sponsor, sponsoring the Team Goo car, which also happens to be Matt’s car. Featured on the bonnet is Matt’s artwork called “Almost Home Kids” featuring the two famous Tinsley Towers standing proud with a pint of beer. (They will be visiting Octoberfest while they’re in Munich after all!)
Team Goo’s car has a great history, having been in the family of one of the team members since it was bought brand new. The car is called “David”, named after the previous owner before becoming the Team Goo car, and they have made sure to include this as one of the many decals featured on the vehicle.
We will be heading to Meadowhall on the 14th of September where all 22 cars will be displaying their freshly painted bonnets, and we can’t wait to see all the different artists' designs!
